The large size of forced convection heat sinks in 1U and 2U server designs severely limits the number of processors per box, and thin blade server implementations already use performance-limited microprocessors due in part to cooling limitations.
The Box/Blade Cooling System (BCS) allows increased packaging density and removes the cooling limitations for these product classes. The use of PLMC can allow 2.5X computer performance increases in the same footprint as conventionally-cooled systems.
For specific applications, the BCS provides flexibility in design:
- 1, 2, and 4 processor variants
- 175W and 250W cold plates
- Modular design / unit assembly for contract manufacturing
- Single condenser assembly with air movers
- Compact refrigerant pump
